CGU and Asociación de Municipios del Camino de Santiago launch a volunteer programme



The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) and the Asociación de Municipios del Camino de Santiago launch the youth volunteer programme University Walking Community, which will run from July to September 2019 in various municipalities of the French Route.


The aim of the programme, in which Diputación de Huesca collaborates, is to help university community to volunteer on the Camino de Santiago. For that purpouse, both associations will select 40 students who will be awarded a grant to participate in this first call of University Walking Community. This grant includes a volunteer training course and accommodation, meals and local transport during the period of voluntary work.


These 40 selected students will have the opportunity to carry out volunteer actions for a month in municipalities located along this pilgrims’ route and members Asociación de Municipios del Camino de Santiago.


To make the most of the experience, their participation will be organized in two periods with an uninterrupted duration of one month. The first from 10 July to 10 August; the second from 10 August to 10 September.

Submission of applications


The call of the volunteer programme is open to students from CGU member universities between the ages of 18 and 30 who are pursuing official undergraduate or postgraduate studies.


In addition, people with functional diversity may participate, as long as it is compatible with the exercise of specific volunteer activities.
