The Compostela Group launches its I CGU International Summer School
The CGU International Summer School is an initiative of the Compostela Group of Universities with the main purpose of carrying out academic activities to make the most of the unique aspect of the CGU identity, the Way, to offer an interdisciplinary and international academic event, aimed at students and teaching staff from the CGU member universities. The CGU International Summer School will rotate annually among the CGU member Universities and the subject will change, although the topics will be related to the Way of Saint James.
The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) has agreed to host the first edition with an international seminar focused on “Cultural Heritage and the Way of Saint James: Protection and Maximasing Potential”. This event is linked to existing courses about the Way of Saint James, organized by the USC in the framework of its regular Summer University.
The I CGU International Summer School will be held on 4‐9th of July, 2016, in order to make attendance easier for students of all CGU member Universities (including students from American Universities), and will take place in Santiago de Compostela and its surroundings for six days.
This first edition will be organized under the direction of the USC by Professors Teresa Carballeira and Isabel Espín. The CGU will be in charge of the academic and administrative coordination through the CGU’s Executive Secretary, Professor Isabel Lirola, and the CGU’s Secretariat.
This international seminar is open preferentially to University students, but also to anyone interested in issues related to the protection of cultural heritage and the Way of Saint James.
The working language of this pilot edition will be Spanish.
