The Swedish scientist Lennart Levi wins the XVIII International Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia
The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) presented on 26 September 2014 the XVIII International Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia to the Swedish scientist Prof. Lennart Levi, as an acknowledgement for his promotion of the European Values through a career committed and oriented to the improvement of physical, mental and social wellbeing of entire populations. His interdisciplinary and intersectoral perspectives (integrating approaches from Medicine, Economy, Psychology, Sociology, Education and other scientific and political fields), his outstanding social concern and his focus on bridging the science-policy gap were decisive elements for the Jury (formed by representatives of the CGU and the Xunta de Galicia) to make its decision.
As in previous years, the award ceremony took place during the General Assembly of the Compostela Group, which this year was held at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland). Prof. Levi decided to donate the monetary prize (6.000 euro) to the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières.
