History and Objectives:

The University of Guadalajara was created in 1792. It is a public decentralized body of the State of Jalisco Government, which enjoys autonomy, judicial personality and personal property. Its main goals are to train and provide continuing education services in all levels; to organize, carry out, foster and disseminate scientific, technological and humanistic research; to rescue, preserve, promote and disseminate culture and; to work in cooperation with other academic authorities to promote high quality education. Nowadays it represents the second largest and most important public university in Mexico.

 

Governing Team:

University Council (Community and Corporate Relations Council, Controller and university of Guadalajara Foundation), General Rector (Council of Rectors, Executive Vice-rector and General Secretary) and Social Council.

 

Grounds:

6 Metropolitan University Centers in Guadalajara and 8 Regional University Centers in the rest of the State of Jalisco.
