History and Objectives:
It was established in 1919. Until 1955 it was officially named the University of Poznan. However, since the year 1955 the University has been named after Adam Mickiewicz, our greatest Polish Romantic poet of the first half of the 19th century. Today, the University is unquestionably the largest University in Western Poland.
